~ Hollywood Dinos & Ah Yat Seafood ~

It has been raining lately and we are hoping the weather be kind today as all of us are going to see the Hollywood Dinos @ Jurong Bird Park before the school re-opens.

It's a long drive down from SengKang to Jurong but we reached at 10:10am. Unfortunately, we were told to wait for another 10-20mins as there are some technical issues with the Dinos.. (The dinos can't move -_-). By the time everything is fixed its around 10:30am...we did not continue our queue for the guided tour and went for Free & Easy.

Photoshots while queuing.

There are about 4 dinos displayed outside and the rest are mostly in the cave.

Gladys had to be carried throughout the journey even though she said it was fake before we enter. Hubby and I tried to convince her but seeing the Big Dinos moving with the sound effects doesn't makes it any better. :p Denver on the other hand enjoyed the most out of it.

The cave is dimly lighted and the bridge we were crossing tilt from left to right. Denver finds it so exciting walking on a moving bridge. Poor Gladys was scared even with the 'protection' from Daddy and Mommy. She had her ears shut and snuggled tightly onto us to be safe. At least she managed to overcome her fear to quickly touch a dino. :p

It wasn't a very big cave and it probably only took us half hour to walk through 1 round. As requested by Denver, we went for a 2nd round. Imagine how SHOCK Gladys was to go through this all over again. :p Only this time, it's Mommy's turn to carry. Hahaha.. But she did Great!
The children busy maneuvering the control and pushing the button to make the Dino moves.
Description of the Dinos exhibited

Before we exit, they get to play with the sand for awhile.. - digging out bones. :) The entire dino exhibits area is kinda small, since it only took us half hour to complete. I was like.. "Huh? Thats it??" It would have been a better option by taking the guided tour instead (~45mins). Still, I was hoping there will be more Dinos and excitement to see. Ah well, at least the children had some fun. :)

Say Bye Bye to the Dinosaurs!

11:30pm. Just nice for LUNCH! Hubby saw there is a 50% off on the DimSum and Seafood menu
at Ah Yat Seafood Resturant... So here we are!
We ordered mostly Dimsum (e.g. siewmai, bao, jiaozi, changfen, carrotcake etc) and 1 small Chilli Crab since its one of the favourite dish which the whole family enjoys! (Including Denver & Gladys). Especially Denver.. He loves the Chilli Crab my mil made and always enjoy having crabs. Our Lunch Bill ~ $60SGD.

Next, it's shopping at Jurong Point before heading back home for a short nap. ^_^

~ 冬至快乐 ~

Yesterday was 冬至 (过小年). It usually falls on every 22nd or 23rd of the 12th month on the Lunar calendar. Every year, we will eat Rice Balls (汤圆) - made of glutinous flour rolled into small round balls. "圆" means "团圆" and "圆满"(Reunion). So, it is a Chinese tradition and a must eat during this day.

My inlaws hand-made the rice balls while Hubby and I bought instant ready-made ones for prayers and offerings.

Yummy Sweet 汤圆

Later in the night, we went to the Airport to send Zhen off who is going on a tour. There is a Big Magical Ball at Terminal 3 where there will be Musical Performance every half hourly. We just missed the time where it will give out free balls containing sweets and goodies. Nevertheless, it was nice to see the Giagantic ball opening up slowly, colourful lights, pingpong size balls rolling down with the Christmas tunes playing at the background.

~ New Furnitures! ~

YEAH!! All the furnitures came in today! We waited around 2pm before the delivery men from IKEA finally arrived! They came on time and everything after that was very swift. It took them about half hour to fix the bed and 2 shelving units. ^_^ The cardboards are nicely packed and taken away in an orderly manner. Very professional and efficient.

The children are extremely happy to see their new bed! Mommy will need some time to sort everything in place before the school term starts!

~ Drawings - Art Time ~

Over the weekend it was Art sessions for the children. Denver wanted to draw and paint and Gladys also follow suit. I am of course their 'Art teacher'. Hahaha... I taught Denver how to colour with different shade of tones to make the picture livelier... He always complains being tired after colouring for awhile. I have to help him colour some of the buildings before his arms 'break'. -_- Gladys on the other hand has more patience and lesser complains. (Although I can't really make out what she was drawing. :p).

Paintings - This is what the children enjoyed most. Cos they get to use their brushes, mix the different colour paints and play with the water.

Gladys' painting (Top row). Denver's painting (Bottom row)

There are so many things you can do with paints. Beautiful designs and patterns can be form with simply using a paintbrush, your fingers/hands/foot, sponge, toothbrush etc. Today, they had fun painting with their paintbrushes and fingers. :) MESSY OF COURSE!

"When can we paint again?" Denver asked. Hmmm. Our schedule are really packed for the next 2 weekends. Let's see what mommy can do next time on our next 'lesson'. To be continued......

~ Movie Treat & Fun Time ~

It's a Long Weekend for Mommy (took leave till Monday). :) So I took Denver 'exclusively' out for a Movie treat! Sorry Gladys.. for missing you out... I'll take you for movies too when you are slightly older k.

Daddy gotta work today.. He left shortly after dropping us at Funan for MacDonald breakfast. Denver & I took the MRT down to watch Avatar (directed by James Cameron) @ GV Plaza. http://www.avatarmovie.com/

The reviews for this movie have been pretty good and I thought the animation would be nice and interesting. Denver always loves to go to the cinemas for a couple of reasons.. He enjoyed watching the shows, loved his sweet popcorn (A MUST) and a day out. I had lost count how many he had went for so far. :)

Since the dialog is too difficult and fast for my young boy to understand, I explained the story to him throughout the show. Personally, I find it was a GREAT movie! Animation was fascinating! I wonder how it'll be in 3D.

I enjoyed myself throught the show but Denver finds it boring. >_<>

Back home, Gladys and Denver had fun together. :) You know, I always find the long corridor in our home is a waste of space. Still, it has proven to be a good ground for Bowling alley. hahaha. The kids simply went CRAZY over the game. Laughing, screaming and running...

~ Ladies Night ~

It's Ladies Night! I met up with all my current and ex-colleagues from MSD and we had buffet dinner at Marriot Cafe @ Marriot Hotel. It's kinda pricy (especially during this holiday season) but the variety of food is very good. Drunken prawn, Sashimi, Shells, Juices, Turkey, Desserts etc... I lost count how many rounds I went for.. Only knew my stomach nearly exploded with all the food and drinks in my tummy. :p

It's really nice catching up with friends during dinner... finding out how each other has been and keeping in touch. So much so that I didn't realise its already past 9pm. "Cinderella" got to go home early since Hubby is on duty and I can't stay out late. And I forgot to take a group photo *again!!

~ Purchases @ IKEA ~

It has been almost 5 years the kids have been sleeping with us... We tried to put Denver in his room a few years back and it was not successful. He ended up crying, running back to us in the nights and didn't sleep well. Denver is starting Primary 1 next year and being more sensible now, he can now sleep through the night with his little sister's company. *Wink. As for our little girl, she still comes back to our room in the middle of the night looking for Mommy & Daddy. hehehhe

Since a new year is coming, and more storage space is needed to organise the children's items, we went to IKEA to hunt for some shelving units and a bed. Our children room is kinda small so we can't really afford the space to have 2 separate single beds and I'm strongly against bunk beds (for safety reasons and lesser heart attack). So here are our selection.

The furnitures will be delivered to us next Monday. In the meantime, Hubby is tasked to look for an auspicious date to fix our King size bed frame back. (It has been dismantled since Denver was 1 year old till now). I'll be spending my weekend cleaning up before the furnitures arrived!

~ The Boy's Bridage Sharity Gift Box ~

For the past few years, Hubby has been donating to the Boy's Bridage Sharity Gift box to help those needy and bring them some cheer. Non perishable items are recommended and Hubby usually donate sack of rice.

Last night, we went to NTUC (Hougang Point Branch) to purchase our groceries and saw the gift box outside. The 2 boys standing by were very polite in answering our questions and helping to organise the donations into the box. Big Thank you to all of them who have been waiting and working long hours in support of this donation drive for the less fortunate.

Hubby decided to buy canned food this year.. so we purchased a box of canned sardines. Denver enjoyed putting many cans of sardines into the box. ^_^ We told him that this is for the needy and we should do our part to help. Every little bit counts and hopefully there will be more donations coming in to bring more Christmas Cheer.

Do send in your donations when you see them! Here's Gladys giving a BIG THUMBS UP for a good deed!

~ We Are Back! ~

We are finally back from our 9 Day 8 Nights stay in Cebu-Manila... Gosh.. I am soooo tired. There are too many things to do.. The after effects from coming back from a long holiday is the amount of chores waiting and a lot of unpacking!

We have tons of photos and details to share! Please visit our travel blog for more details! :)
