~ Meet the Teacher Session with Denver ~

Last Wednesday, Hubby and I took some time off to meet Denver's teacher. We get to look at the various work the children did in class and also have a feel of how Denver's classroom looked like.

Denver showed me his first piece of composition "I am a Bubble" which is still pinned on the notice board outside his class. :) I really enjoyed looking at the various group work and art pieces the children put up together in class.

In terms of Denver's academic results, he got Band 1 for all his mini tests and tasks (expect for one Performance task at Band 2). As per his teacher's and my observation, the only problem Denver had was - Carelessness and probably lack of attention to details. Due to this, Denver did not managed to score as high as he could have been. Children tends to be careless at times, Mommy hopes Denver can try to work on being more attentive and improves his attitude towards learning this holiday.

Other than that, Denver's teacher did not have any issue with his personality development. Generally, he listens in class and gets along well with his peers. Denver's teacher even commented that he is slightly matured for his age. Term 2 has ended and it's the start of the school holidays. Happy June Holidays Children!

~ Farewell My Friends... ~

After working with the company for the past 7 years, I will miss the great colleagues and friends that I've made during this time. As I mentioned in my farewell email, I have many fond memories here and I take with me this wonderful experience and friendship that you all have showered me with all this while.

Thank you for joining in the farewell lunch and the lovely presents.

It will take me a while to get use to the life without Blackberry. No more checking of emails throughout the day and night, no more engaging in little chats that I had with my friends and best of all, no more scary alerting calls during standby in the middle of the night!

There will be a lot of uncertainty in life, but I look forward to my new job, new career and new life!

~ Recent happenings ~

Many things have been going on recently that I have not been able to update this blog as frequent as I used to be. Maintaining 2 blogs is difficult and nowadays I seem to update my travel blog more often instead. So what has been going on recently that kept me busy?

1) On-going tests - There are no more SA1 for Primary 2 students and in replacement there are more mini tests. I have been busy coaching Denver for the last few weeks for his tests and his results haven't been as satisfactory as expected. Only one conclusion - Carelessness. Sighz...

2) Job change - I made a major decision late last month. I tendered my resignation and next week will be my final week with the company. Thus ending our 7 years "relationship". Next month, I'll be starting afresh - a new role in an entire new environment.

We are almost halfway through 2011 and the past few months have been pretty challenging so far. A big turning point for me and I hope things will goes on smoothly for the rest of the year.

~ Happy Mother's Day 2011 ~

It's Mother's Day, but it seems this year the event has been over-shadowed by the Singapore General Elections 2011 coverage. :) Nevertheless, we had dinner with my inlaws yesterday and lunch with my parents earlier.

Gladys also made me a flower in school and drew me a Happy Mother's Day drawing. I really enjoy looking at her art piece. It's colourful, innovative and she never fails to surprise me.

It will be another long weekend for us and more post-Mother's day celebration to come. :) Wishing all Mothers a Happy Mother's Day!

~ New Playgrounds officially opened! ~

After spending weeks of demolishing and reconstructing, the 2 playgrounds near our block have undergone a major revamp and is officially opened today! How are the new playgrounds different from the previous ones? Denver & Gladys will be doing the evaluation. :)

We head down to the purple-yellow themed playground first since it is the one just located below our block. First observation was there are no direct steps to the slides. To get to the top, you have to pick from one of the various steps to make your climb. Alternatively, children love to climb their way up from the slide. This playground looks more challenging for the younger toddlers but exciting for the adventurous ones.

The second playground which is just a block away is colourful and vibrant. There is a little step at the side and also a pole bridge where the kids love to walk. The ground are brightly coloured and there is a Tic-Tac-Toe too. Both playgrounds have 4 slides but are designed differently. After a quick poll, Denver & Gladys love the Oranged theme playground more. :)

The playgrounds are officially opened by Mr Michael Palmer earlier this evening. Apart from the Lucky draw and games, there are free popcorns, candy floss, lollipops, drinks and balloons! Parents and children are queuing up for their food and pretty balloons. Uncle Clown also appeared and performed magic tricks to entertain the little ones. There is also a game of balloon passing where Denver joins in the fun.

Balloons, Candy floss, Popcorns, Games and FUN!

Mommy joined in a long queue before finally getting a free flower balloon for Gladys. The balloons are so pretty and no wonder children and parents are willing to wait.

Denver won a little prize for participating in the Balloon passing game. The game is similar to the musical chair where the child who is holding on to the balloon when the music stop will be out of the game. The final 10 children who managed to stay in the game will win a prize.

Hubby and I are so proud of him not because he won a prize but because we observed that he has been playing the game fairly and being gentle in passing the balloon to the little girl standing next to him. He did not throw or force the balloon into other children hands in the attempt to win. Seeing that truly makes me a happy and proud Mommy and we were full of praise for him! :)
