~ New Year Countdown 2011 ~

This year countdown party is a special one. Not because it has spectacular fireworks or it has great music/entertainment. The only reason is Gladys stayed up with us all night and countdown to the New Year with us for the very first time. :)

The countdown party @ Harmony Square (Sengkang) started from 8pm onwards and we went down to get free light sticks, whistles and mineral bottles.

In order to stay awake, we played kinect games and watched TV programs.

The main highlight for tonight - Fireworks! We went downstairs to countdown for Year 2011 together! It's a new year and wishing all a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2011!

~ Countdown 2010! ~

New Year's Eve: We went to Jimmy's house for a small gathering with Hubby's buddies. There's a nice pool at his condo and we drop by earlier to let the kids enjoy a good swim and water play. ^_^

Everyone is hungry after playing at the pool. We went ahead with our dinner! KFC and Pizzas!! There are so much food! Jo came by later and bring a lot of goodies for the children. Party hats, whistles, masks, snacks etc..

Derrick also brought very Yummy Eggtarts from Fancy Delight. They are so colourful and many flavours to choose! (E.g. Original, strawberry, green tea, kiwi etc). DELICIOUS!!!




Denver kept himself entertained playing with the PS3 and Gladys simply run around in the house drinking and eating. Meanwhile, Hubby had a good time chatting and me sneaking in between playing PS3, eating and watching over Gladys! Hahaha

Fireworks Display

Denver wanted to stay up to watch the Fireworks Display and Countdown. So after returning home from Jimmy's house, he kept awake by watching cartoons and playing PS3 with Daddy.

11:45pm - I took Denver down and got my camera ready. :D (I felt very privilege and fortunate to stay in this estate because there are always parties/events held so near my home and it really saves us a lot of hassles bringing joy to the community.)

We are standing very close and seeing the fireworks blasting in front of you and high up in the dark sky is simply Fascinating!! Although it is not our first time seeing it (we had fireworks display for the past years), it was still GREAT! Denver enjoyed it a lot!

The party is not over after the Final Finale! Many still stay back to welcome the New Year! Even as I'm writing now (ALREADY 1am) I can hear the music, songs, fire from the sparklers, crowd cheering downstairs! Everyone is still PARTYING at this wee hours! Happy New Year EVERYONE! CHEERS!!

Happy New Year!!!

Denver says he wanted to see the fireworks this year.. He has missed it last year and many times... so hubby and I tried waking him up half hour before midnight.. It really took us quite some time before he finally open his eyes. Hubby stayed home to look after Gladys in case she woke up while I took Denver downstairs. He was still sleepy and was shivering. Although it was near midnight, there are still many people waiting for the countdown and of course the fireworks.

Denver took awhile before he starts to warm up. He looks a bit bored but was amazed by the crowd. The organizers were giving out poppers and we managed to stand near where the fireworks are.

Less than a minute to 2009!! We started to countdown.. 15, 14, 13, 12... Denver also joined in the shouting.. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM!!!!

The loud BOOM from the fireworks and everyone started popping their poppers.. POP POP POP!! I think it was too loud for Denver and he seems to be shocked! Maybe we shouldn't have stand so near.. My mistake... The fireworks was really bright and the noise was too loud for Denver.. I had to make a few steps back but was block by the crowd behind.. Finally the 3 minutes fireworks display was over.. I asked Denver if he likes it.. He said yes.. but it was too loud for him. He closed his eyes a couple of times as I think he felt the fireworks is falling on him. We headed back home and he asked.. "Mummy, can I play with the sparklers next time?" I knew he wanted to play with them.. I'll probably get some for him for the Chinese New Year. :)

Anyway, it was an experience for him... and I hope he really enjoyed it.

There is a New Year countdown party at my area... the RC has set up a temporary stage on the open grass patch between the temples. It really attracted a lot of people... kids, parents, couples, grandparents etc gathering there to listen to the songs and most importantly awaiting for the Firework show when the clock strikes 12am.

Denver and Gladys were sound asleep and I went to join in the fun 5 mins before New Year... Too many people were standing on the roadside and especially near the stage.. I took a center spot slightly behind getting my camera ready to capture the video. Come to think of it, it is my first time watching a firework show Live! I only seen them on TV or video.. and am really excited.. :D

Finally, the countdown started (I am all ready)... 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.... Happy New Year!!! BOOM, BOOM, BOOM... FIREWORKS!! It is really SOoooo pretty!! The colours are so Bright and suddenly the dark, night sky sparkles! OOOOh AHhhhhh WOwwwww ... Although this is a small scale firework show, I am really amazed and happy that I make my trip down... :)

Well.. all good things will come to an end.. The crowd started to return to their homes after the last firework bloom in the sky... It's 2008! The long holidays has finally ended and we are going back to work tomorrow... Now, I am looking forward to my brother's wedding and Chinese New Year in Feburary... :)

~ Counting down to 2008 ~

Year 2007 is coming to an end... Last year this time, I remember I was still enjoying my maternity leave awaiting to return work.. Now, I have 2 kids lying by my side (sound asleep).

So many things have happened this year... and it's time to recap...

• Denver started school attending nursery class
• Denver took up swimming lessons
• Gladys celebrated her 1st year birthday
• Gladys learned how to walk in December (15mths)
• Hubby, Denver and me took up inline skating (Dec)
• Big Brother ROM this year
• Second Brother got a girlfriend
• I started blogging in August
• I got my promotion
• Andrea moved out of A&A
• Office move to Tuas

As I am writing this, I could hear the singing, cheering and crowd outside my home... I believe there must be a lot of people waiting to countdown to year 2008! There will be fireworks! But here I am, lying comfortably on my bed... writing my final thoughts before the clock hits 12am...

What will be awaiting for me in 2008? New Year resolutions? hmmmmm

• Stable and happy job
• Healthy and obedient children
• Loving family

10mins to countdown... After tonight, the holidays will be over and school and work will soon starts..
