~ Happy 6th Birthday Denver! ~

Denver is 6th Years Old! I didn't expected him to celebrate it with a fractured arm. Sigh... Still I think he is very blessed to have lots of love from his family and friends.

As usual, we all went to MacDonalds for dinner @ Rivervale Plaza. The children loves to go there.. Nuggets, French Fries, Ice-cream, Soft Drinks are their favourites.

Gladys with her good friend - Meng En who is a very clever boy

Denver enjoying his day so far..he is always happy to eat at his favourite Fast food resturant with his cousins.

Desserts Time! The children enjoying their ice-cream... Yummy and Messy. :)

After dinner, Denver chose a Chocolate Truffle cake and we brought back home to sing Happy Birthday Song and cut the cake. Jasper and Royston also came to our place to play PS3 and Denver loves their company.

Gladys LOVES Birthday cakes and kept close to her Gor Gor from the start until Denver cut it. I'm sure she'll get excited when it's her turn in September. :D

I guess it wasn't too bad of a memory for Denver with so many people celebrating it with him. Hopefully he'll appreciate the things he has and treasure them.

~ Fractured Arm! ~

Has been really in a lousy mood for the past few days... Today is Denver's Birthday but I'll leave the details for tomorrow.

Hubby went on a business trip to Manila for a couple of days on Tuesday. I sent him off at the airport early in the morning and worry about his health and well being especially during this H1N1 viral period. I was glad that Hubby called back in the afternoon to report that he has reached his hotel safely and I set my heart down and packed my stuff ready to stay over at my inlaws place for the next few days.

The moment I step into the house, I saw Denver crying with a painful arm. Initially I thought it was only a minor injury but only to find out that its not very soon. He can't move his left arm and his elbow was swollen.... Sigh.. I believe he has broken it during the fall at the exercise area where he and the rest of the children were playing earlier.

I had a quick light dinner and Big Bil quickly sent us to KKH children's emergency department. Denver has been crying and complaining of the pain throughout the journey. I can't even touch him..Poor thing... :( I registered at the counter and went through the normal procedures... Denver was scared and crying when the assistant needs to take an x-ray of his left arm. I asked how was it and she said "Something is not right but it's not the worse I have seen. Let the doctor advise you".. :( When the doctor finally sees him, he showed me the x-ray and told me that his bone is broken (equivalent to fractured) and that they need to put Denver to sleep and twist his arm back and then cast his arm. I finally called Hubby to inform him about Denver's situation and I understand we were all worried and upset. What to do?

Again, it was another hour's wait before he went through another trauma - INJECTION. Due to his weight, they need to give him a higher dosage (i.e. 2 injections on both thighs) to make him sleep. Denver really can't bear the slightest pain and he was really crying and struggling when the nurse injected him. I have to hold him and calm him down before he finally knocks out in a couple of seconds.. His eyes were open as if he was looking at you.. but he is already sleeping. I waited outside and very soon he was being pushed out. (still in sleep with eyes open). Denver's left arm is now in bandage and Bbil and I have to wait for 1-2 hours for him to wake up before we can take him home.

While waiting, I updated Hubby, went to pay, setup appointment with the ortho next week and collected the medicine. Denver started to gain conscious and moved after 45mins later... he was in daze and eyes rolling around... I think he tries to get up but couldn't. We waited for another half an hour before the doctor checked and allows him to go home. Luckily bil was there to help carry him back.. By the time we reached inlaws' place was already mid-night. Gladys was asleep and so was Denver.

It was a loooong night and the next morning, Denver has a hard time getting up from bed. He started to feel pain and I have to help him up. It's working from home for the rest of the week.. Hubby is not around and I have to feed and bath Denver and taking care of his daily needs. To distract him of the pain, he played computer games and I let him exercise his fingers by playing the PSP. He was really moody and didn't smile... I took him to see the chinese doctor during lunch hours and they prescibed him to drink herbal soup to help build his bones back quicker. (田七,北齐, 软骨猪肉).

It was nightmare when I tried to bath Denver. He was sooooo upset when I just wanted to peel off the handiplast on his thighs where he had the injection. I believe he was traumatised and was so afraid that it was painful. Big Sil has to demostrate to him by sticking scotchtape on her arm and his cousins' arm to prove to him that it is not painful. Still he is not convinced... Really took us quite some time before he allows me to peel it off with no pain at all. Sighz.....Owen came to visit Denver that night to pass him the sling.. that was very nice of him as it was already very late and he took the cab down.. I felt a bit bad but was really glad to see him as it was more reassuring as I was worried for Denver's arm recovery since he really complain about the pain alot. That night Denver woke up a few times in the middle of the night because of the pain. I lost sleep and was having a headache the next morning.

However, it's comforting to see Denver feeling better on Day 2. At least he is smiling and the pain has reduce a little bit. Sometimes I feel that he looks like a Japanese boy.. always a cute boy in my heart.

The other happy news is Hubby is coming back tonight! Hubby bought the Ben10 Alien Force Creation chamber from Manila (which is slightly cheaper than in SG) as another present for Denver hoping to cheer him up. Denver cried the moment he sees Daddy... I guess he wants people to sayang him. There was presents for the children and me too! Hubby bought a necklace and earring set for me. So Sweet! I was surely glad that Hubby is back home safe and sound and we went back to our own house to rest for the night. Now I only hope that Denver's arm is recovering well...

It hasn't been a very good year for me and my family so far... I really hope good things will come along the way for the rest of the year.. Please spare me of my ordeal!

~ Dinner @ Buddy Hoagies ~

Big Bil has been back in Singapore for a couple of weeks now and he is going back to the US soon next month. So there is a small gathering with Hubby's brothers and the children at Buddy Hoagies @ Downtown East. Can't recall when is the last time we all get to sit down together like this... Must have been years. Now each of us have our own children with Gladys as the only girl in the family. :p I ordered Baked Rice and food was ok.

We went to the Arcade again after dinner and the children played their favourite Animal Kaiser card games. After that, we went supper at MacDonalds for some drinks and desserts and finally headed back home. June Holidays are going to end soon... Hope the children had fun so far. :)

~ Birthday Present ~

Today we went out in search of Denver's present. He wanted the Ben 10 Alien Force Creation Chamber which is selling at $89.95! We told him its way too expensive and says we'll get him the Naruto PS3 game instead.

We went to Takashimaya and then later to Suntec City to park our car and took a free shuttle down to Funan. The PS3 game is selling at $70 (cheapest that we can find so far) and it will be a combine present from Bil and us to him.

I have to constantly remind Denver on how expensive this was so that he will not take it for granted and understands that it's hard earn money. Denver seems happy and was excited to go back home and play with his new game.

~ Grasshopper Scare ~

Hubby always call me the "Ant Killer" because I hate to see trails of ants and will use insecticides to kill them. :p That does not means I am not afraid of the other insects.. especially those that can FLY!

The kids were watching Cartoons when Denver shouted that there is a bug flying around. I quickly call out to Hubby to check it out and it was a Grasshopper.. Hubby tries to shoo it off the house and Oh My!! this grasshopper can really JUMP and in our direction! Denver, Gladys and I screamed and ran to the rooms occasionally took a little peep. LoL... Hubby failed to catch it in a few attempts and the grasshopper was jumping all around. Denver and I was scared.. while I believe Gladys was amused by our reaction and join in our screaming as she run and laughed.

Finally Hubby caught the grasshopper and send it out of the house. Pheeeew... Denver was so scared later that he did not even want to brush his teeth alone in the toilet. LoL...

~ The Enormous Turnip ~

We rushed back from the chalet so that Denver can perform in his 2nd play in the Creative Play and Learn class - The Enormous Turnip. This time, he is playing the role of the Enormous Turnip! How suitable for his size :p

Gladys and I get to join and sit in to watch the play this time. Denver does not have many lines but he help to lead the others. The only 'problem' I guess is he is too enthusiastic that he'll pinpoint the other children's mistake if they forgot or misread a line.

On the whole, I am very happy and proud of Denver. He seems to enjoy it and at the end of the play, each of them got a small present for their effort. :) NICE!

~ Chalet 2009 ~

Denver has been waiting to go to the chalet for many months... and he was so excited that the day finally come! The night before hubby and I were busy packing up and he too wanted to help. He would tell us not to forgot his swimming trunk and his beatle game cards.

The next morning, we pick up Big bil and Royston and setoff to the Chalet at Downtown East! The children spent some time playing at the arcade. It is one of their favourite spot. :) Waited for quite a while before we manage to check-in. We were lucky this time and got a room (single floor) where the BBQ pit is just outside. Nice!
After settling down, I am so tired to move. :p plus it was so hot! Denver and Royston are enjoying themselves with the computer game and PSP. Gladys on the other hand is running around. I checked the weather forecast that there will be showers for the next 2 days and indeed, dark clouds start to form. Luckily, we manage to take the children for a quick swim before it rained.

We had dinner at a Japanese resturant where Bbil treated and it was another round of arcade games. There is a new game machine "Animal Kaiser" and all of them were so engross with it.. so much so that the Beatle game is being out-cast. Ha! (Not to forget that Animal Kaiser now cost $1.50 per play while the Beatle game being out-dated is 50 cents per play).. Gladys also enjoyed herself with her Love and Berry card game. Well, at the end of the day, it doesn't cost as much as travelling overseas.

Bbil and bsil went back home while Hubby, me and the 4 children stayed for the night. The time is 9 plus and none of them is tired.. We played letter games and finally has to force them to bed at 10 plus.

Saturday is a Full range of activities! First it was breakfast at MacDonalds.. followed by swimming at the pool. Fil and Mil arrived in the late morning with Food! Fried bee hoon, Curry and others for the BBQ. Yummy..

After lunch, the older childen went for another round of arcade with Hubby while I took Denver and Gladys to play at the Xplorer Kids. It was usually expensive.. Luckily, the entrance fee is free for the children (free 2 hours) as it came with the chalet tickets. We did not choose to go to Wild Wild Wet this time as there were too many kids and not enough adults to look after. Denver was disappointed but still, they kept themselves occupied and especially enjoy the Ball Pool.

Denver was busy with the maze and started running and climbing up. Gladys being younger and not so adventurous stayed to play with balls and games for toddlers. Frankly, there isn't much inside Xplorer kids plus there are some activites where parents still need to top up additional $5.50 per hour! (e.g Ice skate, shooting ball zone etc). I presume this would be their first and last time playing there.

Saturday evening is BBQ TIME! Relatives started to arrive and there was already a Mahjong session. Hubby and Bbil was busy with BBQ while I help to look after the children and EAT. :p This is the time where it starts to get really messy.. Cos there was a lot of people! More than 30 I believe... With that number of people, there was also lotsa food! Satay, Chicken Wings, Home-made Fried Taupok, Squid, Hotdogs, Sausages, Otah, Specially made Thai style Salad, Fishballs, Prawns, Pork, Watermelon etc... We even receive 2 cakes! 1 from ChenYi's parents and the other from Jo. (An early birthday present for Denver).

Eileen, Junlong and Guanghong went to play Badminton. I also had a chance to play for awhile and really had fun too. :) The only thing is I was really tired and stinky but had to wait for all the guest to leave before we can wash up and clean the room ready to sleep. While waiting, Hubby and I took the children to the arcade again before finally heading back to the chalet.

Everyone was so tired by now and very soon we were in dreamland. :)
